Launch of Tchibanga Airport Construction Works

On November 12, 2024, the Minister of Transport, Merchant Marine and Sea, Dieudonné Loïc NDINGA MOUDOUMA, accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture Jonathan IGNOUMBA and local authorities, including Governor Jean Robert MABOBET, officially launched the construction works of the new Tchibanga airport.

This project is part of the country’s infrastructure modernization plan. Following the commissioning of Oyem airport, Tchibanga airport becomes the next step in this ambitious transformation of the transport sector.

Initially planned as a renovation, the project was ultimately redesigned to build a new airport. The first phase, lasting three months, will focus on civil engineering works and runway marking. Subsequently, the second phase will be dedicated to equipping the infrastructure for commercial operations.

The future Tchibanga airport will include three main buildings: an “Air Plus 1” terminal, a security building, and a new control tower. This investment aims to provide modern facilities meeting international standards.

For the population of Nyanga, this new airport will represent a major improvement in mobility and economic opportunities. It aligns with the Head of State’s commitment to ensure facilitated access to air transport throughout the territory.

The works, closely monitored by the minister, must deliver on schedule an airport that meets national development ambitions. This structuring project for Nyanga should not only improve the region’s accessibility but also stimulate the local economy by facilitating the arrival of visitors and potential investors.
